According to the Daily Record, Rangers face a battle for Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson after Brentford entered the race for his signature.
It’s claimed that the Bees have scouted Ferguson extensively, going back to last season. Their interest has allegedly ramped up in 2020, before the season was hit by the global pandemic.
Ferguson is aware of Brentford’s interest, and he’s now high on their wish list. Aberdeen would allegedly want a fee well in excess of the club-record £1.75million sale of Eoin Jess.
Steven Gerrards wants to land Ferguson, as noted by The Scottish Sun but Aberdeen don’t want to sell to a Scottish club – and that could leave Brentford clear in the race for the 20-year-old.
Ferguson has starred since his £175,000 move from Hamilton Academical in 2018, picking up 11 goals and 17 assists for Aberdeen.

Ferguson started his career with Rangers before being released in 2013. A return to Ibrox may be appealing to the youngster, whose father Derek and uncle Barry both played for the Gers.
Yet with a big fee wanted and Aberdeen reluctant to sell to a Scottish rival, Rangers may find themselves trailing Brentford in the race for his signature.
