Mark Warburton could inflict another blow on Rangers’ Premiership rivals Heart of the Midlothian by bringing the 34-year-old to Ibrox instead.
Gilks in action for Blackpool
Former Burnley goalkeeper Matt Gilks could replace the outgoing Cammy Bell at Rangers, according to the Scotsman, which cites the Scottish Sun.
Gilks, who has three caps for Scotland, was released by the Clarets at the end of last season.

The 34-year-old had been linked with a move to Hearts and Rangers could inflict another blow on the Edinburgh side, who were snubbed by Bell in favour of Dundee United (the Scotsman).
Rochdale-born Gilks began his career at his hometown club, before moving on to Norwich City and Blackpool, for whom he appeared in the Premier League.
From there he made the short trip to Burnley, where Rangers head of recruitment was employed prior to his Ibrox appointment in October 2015.
Gers recruit Barton was Gilks’ teammate at Turf Moor
McParland has already put his extensive list of contacts to good use, helping the Gers to land Joey Barton (Burnley) and Jordan Rossiter (Liverpool) from two of his former clubs.
Bell is set to follow Maciej Gostomski out of Ibrox this summer, leaving the search for a back up to Wes Foderingham high on Mark Warburton’s list of priorities.
Bell is reportedly headed for Dundee United
