Rangers have had two bids rejected for Michael O’Halloran, according to reports.
According to the Daily Mail, Rangers have failed with two bids to sign St. Johnstone forward Michael O’Halloran, with the most recent deal totalling £200,000.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has been busy already during this month’s transfer window, snapping up Polish goalkeeper Maciej Gostomski and Doncaster playmaker Harry Forrester on six-month contracts.
Then, Rangers signed pre-contract agreements with Accrington Stanley duo Matt Crooks and Josh Windass, with the 21-year-old duo joining the club at the end of the season.
However, manager Warburton will still want more new signings to make sure that Rangers win the Scottish Championship title and subsequent promotion to the top flight – and it seems that a forward is on his transfer wishlist right now.
The Daily Mail report that after Rangers’ head of recruitment Frank McParland watched St. Johnstone forward Michael O’Halloran last weekend, the Gers submitted two bids for the Scot on Wednesday – but both offers have been rejected.
It’s stated that Rangers’ final bid, totalling £200,000, was immediately rejected by St. Johnstone, who are under no pressure to sell their star forward, given that he is under contract until the summer of 2017.
The 25-year-old, who started his career with Rangers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic, moved on to Bolton Wanderers before returning to Scotland with St. Johnstone, and hit ten goals for the club last season, as well as another four this term.
Rangers have seen Martyn Waghorn thrive in front of goal this season, but another goalscorer would be a smart move from Warburton – if St. Johnstone are willing to sell the forward this month, and if they can fend off English clubs, with a number of teams south of the border allegedly interested, according to the report.
