According to the Daily Record, Rangers defender Matt Polster will imminently leave the club for New England Revolution in a £400,000 deal.
It’s claimed that Rangers actually want to keep Polster, but won’t stand in his way if the MLS side meet their asking price – which it seems they will.
New England will seemingly tie up a deal inside the next 24 hours, pipping Nashville SC to a deal ahead of the MLS season restarting.
Polster allegedly loves Rangers, but feels he needs to leave Ibrox for his own good as he seeks a spot in the United States World Cup qualifying squad.
A free signing from Chicago Fire in January 2019, Polster was going to leave Rangers on loan in January, but was actually needed when James Tavernier went down with injury.
The 27-year-old has only made 10 appearances for Rangers since joining the club, and believes he needs first-team football to progress.
A versatile squad player, Polster hasn’t disgraced himself as a Rangers player, but will now head back to the States for a decent fee.
Losing a right back may mean that Rangers will be landing target Dennis Gyamfi, or maybe youngster Nathan Patterson will be given the chance to challenge Tavernier regularly.
