According to the Glasgow Times, Rangers’ move for Aberdeen winger Scott Wright may end up being a swap deal involving Greg Stewart.
Rangers were first linked with a move for Wright on Monday, with Steven Gerrard’s men plotting a pre-contract agreement for the wide man.
Now though, it’s stated that Aberdeen are open to him leaving this month if they can get something back for him, rather than seeing him leave for nothing in the summer.
The report claims that Rangers may offload Stewart in a swap deal for Wright, with Gerrard keen to have Wright on board for the second half of the season.
Stewart, 30, joined boyhood club Rangers in 2019, but has only managed 29 appearances for the club and has barely featured this season.
He has a history with Aberdeen having spent two rather disappointing loan spells there – but Derek McIness may bizarrely look to make it third time lucky.

Stewart has no role to play at Rangers, so offloading him to Aberdeen whilst bringing in a talented, speedy winger in Wright could be ideal for the Gers.
The 23-year-old has shown real promise this season, and he could end up at Ibrox this month if Gerrard gets his way, months ahead of the initial plan.
