Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Nikola Katic to Ibrox.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers are confident that they can beat Spartak Moscow to the signing of Slaven Belupo defender Nikola Katic this summer.

The Gers have tied up three new signings this summer, as Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria have all arrived, whilst Jamie Murphy’s loan move from Brighton and Hove Albion has been made permanent.

Whilst Brighton defender Connor Goldson is also closing in on a move to Ibrox, new manager Steven Gerrard stills needs further reinforcements, and more defenders are needed.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso are far from secure at Ibrox, whilst Russell Martin has returned to Norwich City and David Bates has signed for German side Hamburg.

Now, the Daily Record report that Rangers are pursuing Slaven Belupo defender Nikola Katic, and are confident that they can beat Spartak Moscow to his signature.

Katic, 21, has emerged in his native Croatia with Neretvanac Opuzen and now Slaven Belupo, where his impressive displays over the last two years have caught the eye.

The 6ft 4in defender may not be in Croatia’s World Cup squad this summer, but he already has his first cap for his country, and has been tipped for a bright future domestically and on the international stage.

Katic is allegedly valued at £2million, and Gerrard is claimed to want him at Ibrox after Rangers scouts watched him in action for Slaven Belupo last month.

Rangers are even confident that they can pip Spartak Moscow to his signature, despite the fact that the Russians have Champions League football on offer, with Rangers pursuing what could be a coup to go alongside Goldson.
