Rangers are reportedly close to bringing Martin Skrtel and Harry Wilson to Ibrox.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are closing in on a double swoop to sign Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel and Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.
The Gers have already added two new faces since the end of the season, as goalkeeper Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield have signed pre-contract agreements to join from Hull City and Burnley respectively.
With new manager Steven Gerrard on board, he may well be looking to reunite with some of his ex-teammates or even call on a favour from former club Liverpool – and that appears to be the case right now.
The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are close to securing deals for Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel and Liverpool wide man Harry Wilson, and confident they will be on board before Gerrard starts work on June 1st.
It’s claimed that a £2.7million deal for centre back Skrtel is close to completion, with the veteran set to pen a three-year deal with Rangers and reunite with Gerrard in the process.
The uncompromising Slovakian, 33, played alongside Gerrard with Liverpool following a 2008 move from Zenit St. Petersburg, and will provide an experienced presence to organise the Rangers defence if a deal is completed.
Meanwhile, a season-long loan deal is in the pipeline for Wilson, after hitting seven goals and three assists in 13 Championship games during a loan spell with Hull City this season.
The Welshman looks set for a bright future, and Gerrard appears to have managed to land one of Liverpool’s top young talents to boost his options in the final third at Ibrox.
