Glasgow Rangers are reportedly close to agreeing a deal that will see Borna Barisic arrive at Ibrox.

The Record reports that Steven Gerrard was keen to sign a new left-sided defender in the final weeks of the window, and was incredibly impressed by what he saw from Barisic when Rangers overcame his current side in the Europa League. It was the 25-year-old who scored Osijek’s goal in Scotland on Thursday.
And it appears that Barisic could soon be announced as Rangers’ 11th signing of the summer. The Record reports that a £2.2 million deal for the Croatia international could be confirmed within the next 48 hours.
It looks like a potentially exciting deal for the Light Blues. Jon Flanagan has performed well on the left-hand side of the defence since arriving earlier in the window, but perhaps having a natural left-footer on that flank will make Rangers’ back four even more difficult to break down and even more of a threat going forward.

Barisic is clearly a top talent, having made it into Croatia’s provisional squad ahead of the World Cup before missing out on the side that went to Russia.
And the fact that Rangers are spending a significant fee on strengthening a position that they arguably do not necessarily need to certainly suggests that Gerrard sees something special in the full-back.
