Stoke City have told Tom Ince he’s free to leave on loan, with West Bromwich Albion battling Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers for the £10 million winger, according to TEAMtalk.

Karlan Grant isn’t the only Championship forward on Slaven Bilic’s hit list.

West Brom have just five days left before the transfer window shuts and, after picking up only one point from their first three Premier League games, the Baggies are desperate to bring some new faces to the Hawthorns before it’s too late.

And while 28-year-old Ince has flattered to deceive since bidding farewell to Derby County in summer 2017, the one-time Liverpool youngster has plenty of admirers.

TEAMtalk claims Celtic and Rangers are interested, perhaps making the assumption a man who was once the most feared attacking talent in England’s second tier can rediscover his match-changing brilliance north of the border.

West Brom are also keen, even if Bilic is hardly short of wingers at present.

Should the £10 million Ince arrive at the Hawthorns before Monday’s deadline, it would be no surprise to see the likes of Kamil Grosicki leave.

However, it remains to be seen whether the former Hull and Huddersfield forward would be happy with a back-seat role at West Brom.

It feels unlikely that Ince, unless he can rediscover the form that made him such a star at Pride Park, would be able to claim a first-team place ahead of Matheus Pereira, Grady Diangana or Matt Phillips.

“I was lucky to train with (Steven Gerrard) a couple of times when I was at Liverpool. The aura he has about him is just fantastic,” Ince told FourFourTwo in 2014.

That particular dream may have died but, with Rangers keen, there’s still time for Ince to share a dressing room with his former Liverpool captain.
