Steven Gerrard is favourite to take charge of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers.

A report from The Daily Record has intimated that Steven Gerrard intends to use the Rangers job as a stepping stone to becoming Liverpool manager one day.
The Liverpool legend is said to be closing in on becoming Rangers boss after Graeme Murty stepped down from his role today.
The 37-year-old remains in talks with the hierarchy at Ibrox and it seems only a matter of time before he is thrust into the spotlight.
At the moment, Gerrard is a youth coach at Liverpool but, according to The Daily Record, the former midfielder plans to use his spell with the Gers to strengthen his claim on taking charge of his boyhood club at some point in the future.

Record journalist Duncan Castles claimed: “Talking to some people close to Steven, the interesting guidance I was getting is that it’s precisely because he wants to manage Liverpool in the future, that Rangers and the Old Firm is an attractive environment for him.
“He sees parallels between Liverpool and Glasgow as cities, with an intensity of football culture and an intensity of football rivalry that probably doesn’t exist anywhere else in the UK.”
It remains to be seen how Rangers fans react to that development, though some might acknowledge that Gerrard would hardly be expected to start and finish his managerial career in Glasgow.
The Merseyside-born coach seems a million miles from managing Liverpool at the moment, but a successful stint at Ibrox, which includes stopping the runaway train that Brendan Rodgers has moulded Celtic into, would be a fine start.
