Rangers can secure the services of Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes and his assistant Tony Docherty for £800,000 in compensation, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Sunderland agreed to pay that amount to Aberdeen to land the duo in the summer of 2017.

McInnes decided not to switch to the Championship club in England and signed a new contract with the Dons.

The Daily Record has claimed that his new contract has the same compensation figure – £800,000.

According to The Evening Express, Rangers are interested in appointing McInnes as their new manager.

McInnes is one of the best managers in the Scottish Premiership at the moment, and if it would take £800,000 to secure his services, then Rangers should pay it.

The 46-year-old is a former Rangers midfielder, and one suspects that he would be interested in the Ibrox managerial role if the terms are right.

Rangers are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, while Aberdeen are currently second in the standings.
