Glasgow Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Dominic Solanke to Ibrox during the summer transfer window.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from The Sun, Steven Gerrard has made Dominic Solanke his number one target as he prepares for his first window as Rangers manager following confirmation of his appointment earlier this week.

The Sun confirmed that Gerrard has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish Premiership side. But with the Gers well behind Celtic once again this term, it appears that a significant summer overhaul may be required.

But Gerrard has seemingly taken little time to consider potential targets, with The Sun reporting that he is planning to go back to his old side Liverpool to try and lure Solanke to Ibrox on loan. The report adds that the 20-year-old is Gerrard’s priority target for the coming window.

It would be a huge coup for the Light Blues if Gerrard was able to bring Solanke to the club in the coming months. Though he is yet to score for the Reds, the fact that he has played 26 times in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side – including during the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final – highlights that Liverpool have extremely high hopes for the youngster.

It may be that fairly prominent role that he has played however, that may perhaps hurt Rangers’ chances of getting a deal done. Klopp appears to be a fan of the former Chelsea starlet, so perhaps Liverpool signing a new striker may be required for the way to be paved for a potential deal to be done.

It would certainly be a superb statement from Rangers if they were able to get Solanke through the door. It would arguably send a warning about Gerrard’s pulling power that may even have Celtic worried ahead of next season.
