Rangers are hoping to imminently announce the appointment of Pedro Caixinha after the board agreed he is the man for the job.

Caixinha is currently manager Qatari club Al Gharafa, where ex-Ger Vladimir Weiss plays, and a compensation deal must be agreed.

The speed of how quickly it can be done will influence whether or not Caixinha will take charge for this weekend’s Old Firm match with Celtic, but the paper claim Rangers hope it will be done ‘within 48 hours’.

Rangers are hoping to restore pride after a disappointing campaign which has them sitting 33 points behind Celtic.

They have been beaten three times by their rivals already, and have now been drawn together in the Scottish Cup semi-finals in addition to this weekend’s game, so Caixinha could still get a crack at them before the season is out even if the deal is not done as quickly as The Star suggest.
