Lyle Taylor bid an emotional farewell to his Charlton Athletic team-mates on Tuesday as the reported Rangers and West Bromwich Albion target closes in on a ‘life-changing’ transfer, according to The Sun (17 June, page 52).
Lee Bowyer’s Charlton are already facing a major battle as they look to climb out of the Championship relegation zone when the season resumes this weekend.
But the path to survival has just got that little bit steeper with the news that Taylor, the club’s talisman and top scorer, will not play for the Addicks for the remainder of the campaign.
The striker is set to become a free agent at the end of this month.
Aad, as Bowyer told talkSPORT, Taylor was reluctant to sign a short-term extension until the end of July for fear of suffering a serious injury which could scupper his chances of a ‘life-changing’ move.
The Sun is now reporting that Taylor left Charlton’s training ground for the final time this week, saying goodbye to the rest of the Addicks squad.
Where the 30-year-old ends up, however, is anyone’s guess.

A late-blooming player who has spent much of his career in non-league could soon be playing Premier League football for the first time with Crystal Palace, Burnley and Bournemouth interested (TEAMtalk).
A chance in Europe is calling too, with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers keeping an eye on a man who could ease the goalscoring burden on Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox.
West Brom are another potential option for Taylor, according to West London Sport.
