Celtic and Rangers might have a big transfer boost.

According to The Scottish Sun in March, both Old Firm giants were interested in signing £5 million-rated defender Tomas Kalas.

Celtic will need a number of new centre-backs this summer amid the imminent departure of Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic, while Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has a 39-year-old Gareth McAuley and Nottingham Forest-owned Joe Worrall who may be leaving Glasgow.

The reported interest in Kalas could well be genuine and, according to Football London, the Czech stalwart wants to leave Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has had a number of loans away from Stamford Bridge and now wants stability in the form of a permanent transfer, Football London claims.

Kalas is already known to Gerrard after the Liverpool icon played against him in the game where he slipped and gifted the Premier League title to Manchester City.

It seems like he might be on the move this summer, but a successful stint with Bristol City means that he’ll probably attract interest down South and whether Celtic and the Ibrox side can compete remains to be seen.
