Well, it didn’t take long for the Old Firm to get dragged into the European Super League shenanigans.
Sure, neither Rangers nor Celtic were invited into a closed-off league for Europe’s so-called ‘elite’, but it could yet have an impact on them.
That’s because The Sun report that the Premier League’s big six clubs still believe the Premier League needs to be reformed even if the Super League isn’t possible.
One club allegedly believe it’s time for Celtic and Rangers to be brought into the Premier League, feeling that it would only boost interest, sponsorship and TV money.
That’s only one club; there are 19 others in the Premier League and five others in the so-called ‘big six’, so this still seems very unlikely.
After the football world came together to block the Super League plans, it would seem very unfair to move Celtic and Rangers out of Scottish football and drop them into the riches of the Premier League.
What would that do to the Scottish game? Money is tight enough as it is for the whole Scottish pyramid, without removing the two ‘big fish’ of their particular pond.
Joining the English and Scottish leagues seems too difficult and only picking out two clubs to take seems unfair, so we’re not expecting this to happen any time soon – even if one Premier League club allegedly want it.
