Rangers are reportedly looking to bring Connor Goldson to Ibrox this summer.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are lining up a move to land Brighton and Hove Albion defender Connor Goldson this summer.
The Gers secured a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership this season, and not only can they now look forward to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League, but also the first transfer window with Steven Gerrard at the helm.
Gerrard has already overseen the club’s first signing of the summer as Scott Arfield penned a pre-contract agreement with the club on Monday, as the Burnley midfielder agreed a four-year deal.
More additions will be needed, especially in defence, and The Scottish Sun now report that Rangers and new manager Gerrard are hoping to land Brighton and Hove Albion defender Connor Goldson as a result.
Goldson, 25, came up through the ranks with Shrewsbury Town before leaving for Brighton in 2015, having racked up 120 appearances for the Shrews.
Whilst the 6ft 3in centre back has been highly thought of, he missed most of 2017 due to heart defect, and played just eight times this season as his recovery – and the form of both Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk – kept him out of the Brighton side.
Having already struck one deal with Brighton to sign winger Jamie Murphy permanently, it’s now believed that Rangers will return to the negotiating table with the Seagulls to propose a deal for Goldson.
It’s unclear just how much Brighton would demand for Goldson, but it will surely be a hefty profit on the £600,000 Chris Hughton’s men paid (The Argus) three years ago.
