According to L’Equipe, Rangers have now agreed a fee of €4million (£3.6million) for Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu.

The Scotsman claimed on Monday night that Rangers had been given the green light to begin talks with Zungu, as an agreement was close.

That has now been backed up in France, with L’Equipe stating that the deal is worth around £3.6million.

Zungu will sign a four-year deal with Rangers, with an expectation that the move will now go through without a hitch.

Zungu missed out on a move to Mallorca in January, and now finally gets his move away from Amiens following their relegation from Ligue 1.

Amiens are doubling their money on Zungu having paid €2million to sign him from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2017.

The 6ft midfielder is predominantly a holding player but can also play box-to-box, and Steven Gerrard will hope that he can add more grit and bite to the Rangers engine room.

Zungu provides international experience too having earned 29 caps for South Africa, though injury problems may leave some worried.

Zungu is 27, and giving a four-year deal with those concerns present will concern some Rangers fans, but Gerrard and Ross Wilson seemingly think he is the man to bolster the midfield.
