Glasgow Rangers appear to be closing in on a deal to bring Nikola Katic to Ibrox after agreeing a fee.

Steven Gerrard is continuing his overhaul of his Gers squad ahead of his first season with the Scottish Premiership giants, and the club have already made four additions to their side, with Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield joining on free transfers, while Jamie Murphy’s loan deal has been made permanent and Ovie Ejaria has joined from Liverpool for the next season.

Katic is a 21-year-old centre-back who made his international debut for Croatia last year, and is a regular in his current club’s side. The Daily Record recently reported that Connor Goldson is close to joining from Brighton, so perhaps the Gers could have a new look first-choice centre-back partnership next season.

Katic is an exciting talent and looks set to bolster the Light Blues’ options in the area of the field where they arguably look weakest right now following the recent departure of David Bates and Danny Wilson’s exit back in January.
And while the move is not quite across the line, it does appear from the latest reports that a deal is edging ever closer now that the two clubs have reportedly agreed a fee.
