Rangers have reportedly given up hope of luring Jake Hastie to Ibrox.
According to the Glasgow Evening Times, Rangers have now abandoned their move for Motherwell winger Jake Hastie – despite agreeing a deal for him.
The Gers already have one winger on the way to Ibrox this summer, having secured a pre-contract agreement with Kilmarnock wide man Jordan Jones.
Yet with Ryan Keny set to return to Liverpool, Eros Grezda struggling in his first season at Ibrox and Glenn Middleton not yet ready to make a big impact, another winger could be targeted.
Motherwell ace Hastie was one name strongly linked with a move to Rangers, with the Glasgow Evening Times noting that a pre-contract deal was agreed with him too last month.
However, it’s claimed that despite that agreement, Rangers have grown frustrated with the lack of progress in finalising the move, and have now abandoned the pursuit completely.
That’s a major blow for Steven Gerrard, who would have been excited to work with one of Scottish football’s most exciting young players.
Hastie, 20, has come up through the ranks with Motherwell, and after spending the first half of this season on loan at Alloa Athletic, he has become a star at Fir Park.
The pacy winger has racked up six goals in just 11 games for Motherwell, sparking that interest from Rangers in his signature.
Out of contract this summer, Hastie is now set to attract even more interest with his Ibrox move cancelled, and Rangers will hope that they aren’t made to pay for scrapping the deal.
