Denzel Dumfries must be patient as he awaits a move to Everton, with ED reporting that the Premier League outfit may need to sell a few players to make room for the Netherlands international.

When Farhad Moshiri became Everton’s majority shareholder back in 2016, the expectation was that a close working relationship with Mino Raiola would see some of the game’s most exciting talent arrive at Goodison Park.

Five years on, however, only one Raiola player has joined the Toffees during the Moshiri era – forgotten man Moise Kean.

But, as the Merseyside giants prepare to battle Inter Milan for the signature of PSV captain Dumfries, that Raiola connection could pay dividends at last.

Did we mention that the motor-mouth agent also has Marcel Brands on speed-dial?

It was Brands who brought Dumfries to the Phillips Stadium a few years ago and, according to reports coming out of Holland, a reunion at Goodison Park is a distinct possibility.

Is Euro 2020 star Denzel Dumfries heading to Everton?

The 25-year-old won’t be posing for photos in front of the Gwadlys Street end any time soon though.

ED adds that, with Everton under pressure to sell a couple of fringe players first and reduce their crippling wage bill, Dumfries will have to wait.

Patience is, indeed, a virtue.

Some at Goodison may fear that, with the deal on the backburner for now, Serie A champions Inter could snap up one of Europe’s most attack-minded full-backs from under their nose.

The Nerrazzuri are looking to replace the transfer-listed Achraf Hakimi, and Dumfries would certainly emulate the Moroccan’s swashbuckling style and eye-for-goal down the right-hand side.

Dumfries scored the decider with a brilliant back-post header in Holland’s 3-2 Euro 2020 victory over Ukraine on Sunday, winning over the Everton supporters along the way.
