According to The Telegraph, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling is reluctant to be included in a part-exchange deal for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
Kane seemingly wants to leave Tottenham, and rumours today have suggested that City are ramping up their interest in the striker.
A £100million move plus players has been reported by Fabrizio Romano, with Sterling one of the players mentioned.
Sterling seemingly doesn’t fancy Tottenham move
It’s stated that Sterling doesn’t want to be used as a makeweight in any deal for Kane, apparently not fancying a move back to London at this stage.
Few can blame him; City just reached the Champions League final and Tottenham only have Europa Conference League action next season, so a move to North London would be a step down.
Add in that Sterling is on £300,000-a-week, and Tottenham just can’t make such a deal happen.
What has Sterling said about his future?
Sterling has told Sky Sports that he is ‘not happy’ when he’s not playing, seemingly hinting at his role at the Etihad Stadium.
He would almost certainly start more regularly at Tottenham, but that still isn’t enough for Sterling to be tempted into joining as part of a Kane swap.
What about Arsenal?
Arsenal were believed to be favourites for Sterling according to a report from The Sun earlier this month.
Mikel Arteta has worked with Sterling at Manchester City, and a reunion may be somewhat appealing – but the problems are the same with Arsenal no more likely to meet his wage demands than Tottenham are right now.
