Rangers target Rafael Santos Borre will now receive an offer to become River Plate’s highest-paid player, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Borre’s contract expires in just a couple of days, and he is bound to be a man in demand if he is available for free.
The Colombian is believed to be a target for Rangers, but River aren’t letting him go without a major fight.
Rangers’ interest in Borre
El Deportivo in Colombia reported last week that Rangers are in the race to sign Borre when his contract expires.
That report suggested that Rangers’ contract offer to Borre would far exceed River’s, with both Marcelo Gallardo urging the club to keep him.
Now, it’s stated that River will offer him a ‘big’ contract – one which would make him the highest-paid player.

How has Borre performed at River?
Borre has had stints with Deportivo Cali, Atletico Nacional and Atletico Madrid, but it’s River where he has really excelled.
With 56 goals and 18 assists in 149 games for River, Borre has become a fan favourite at El Monumental, but may now have a chance to leave.
It remains to be seen whether River’s offer tops Rangers’, but we should find out more about Borre’s future in the coming days.
