Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has still not penned a new contract at St. James’ Park.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is seeking a meeting with Lee Charnley this week to discuss his future.

Benitez has still not signed a new contract at St. James’ Park, with time running out on his current deal.

The Spanish boss’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and Benitez will not pen fresh terms unless he is offered assurances from Charnley and Mike Ashley.

Newcastle are yet to give Benitez the promises he wants, and he is pushing to seek further clarification of where he stands.

Benitez has reportedly lined up transfer targets at Newcastle in every area of their squad, and he will pitch them to Charnley soon – if he is given the meeting he wants.

If Newcastle do fail to tie down Benitez to a new long-term contract it will cause huge frustration with their supporters, ahead of the new season.
