Newcastle United are making an attempt to sign Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United wanted to sign Sheyi Ojo last summer, with their interest long-standing.

Rafael Benitez has had an eye on the Liverpool winger for some time, and would like to bring him to St. James’ Park this summer.

Newcastle feel that Ojo could enhance their attacking options for next season, while leaving them free to go after other targets.

Newcastle want Ojo on loan, in a deal which is a repeat of one they tried to complete a year ago.

The Magpies were eager to add Ojo to their squad for their last season in the Championship, but Liverpool blocked a loan move that time around.

The Reds are thought to be more open to sanctioning a loan deal for Ojo this time around though, and Newcastle feel that the youngster could be an ideal addition.

Newcastle only have a limited amount of funds to spend, meaning Benitez is having to be creative this summer.

And Benitez feels that by completing a loan deal for Ojo, he will still have all of his budget left to spend.

Newcastle want to sign Benfica’s Andreas Samaris, but he will cost them £17.5 million, according to the Mirror.
