Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is set to head out on loan this summer.

According to the Chronicle, Rafael Benitez has told Freddie Woodman that he is the future of Newcastle United, but the youngster is still keen to move on loan this season.

Woodman is regarded very highly at Newcastle, but he has struggled to break into the first-team.

The youngster has impressed on loan spells at Crawley Town and Kilmarnock, and he also kept goal for England’s under-20 side as they won the World Cup this summer.

Benitez is believed to want experience in goal at St. James’ Park this season, as he aims to help his side compete back in the Premier League again.

Newcastle already have the likes of Karl Darlow, Tim Krul and Rob Elliott at St. James’ Park, and although at least one of the trio will leave this summer, Woodman’s first-team chances still seem limited.

As a result, Woodman wants to head out on loan again to gain more experience.

If Woodman does move out on a temporary move, he is likely to have plenty of suitors across the Football League.
