Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has failed to impress so far this season.

According to the Chronicle, Rafael Benitez has told Jacob Murphy to fight for his place at Newcastle United.

Murphy has endured a difficult time at St. James’ Park so far, following a £12 million move from Norwich City last summer (Sky Sports).

The winger didn’t make much of an impact last season, and he has not been used very frequently by Newcastle this time around.

Murphy, when called upon, just hasn’t impacted on games enough to prove valuable to Newcastle.

But Benitez has reportedly told Murphy that now is the time for him to fight for his place and show he merits a spot in the Spaniard’s side.

Newcastle may have beaten Watford at the weekend, but they still need to add to their attacking threat.

And if Murphy was to get back to his best, it would unquestionably be a boost to Newcastle for the remainder of the season.
