Newcastle are said to be after a striker, a right-back, an attacking midfielder and a winger this summer, with Benitez wanting to strengthen his squad.
Newcastle have so far been quiet in the transfer window, with Martin Dubravka and Ki-Sung Yeung their only permanent additions.
However, the Magpies are intending to step up their pursuit for new additions in the coming weeks.
