Newcastle United have endured a fairly quiet transfer window, and Rafa Benitez is reportedly furious with the Magpies board.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Rafa Benitez is now heading for more talks with the Newcastle board after being left furious with their lack of success in the transfer window.
The Magpies are a week away from their season curtain-raiser with Tottenham at St James’ Park, but they have so far only managed to bring in a handful of players following their Championship title win, and it appears that the failure to land two players in particular has left Benitez hugely frustrated.

According to the Mirror, Benitez is angry with the Magpies hierarchy’s inability to land Stoke City striker Joselu after their £12 million bid was rejected by the Potters.
And the Newcastle boss’ frustration has been added to, with the Mirror reporting that the board are also not planning to get back into the race for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend after seeing a £10 million bid turned down – despite the report suggesting that the former Magpies wide-man is available.
It is not surprising that Benitez is frustrated if the board are already willing to sanction eight-figure bids for both players, but are not subsequently willing to follow them up with improved offers – especially as it has been such a quiet window at St James’ Park this summer.
Just five players have been added to the first-team squad, and one of those is a player who spent last year at the club on loan anyway – and none of those players could really be labelled as proven Premier League players either.
