Jonathan David snubbed the chance to move to Leeds United this summer, according to Get French Football News.
Andrea Radrizzani really felt that Leeds stood a good chance of bringing in David from Gent, as he shares a good relationship with the Canadian forward’s agent.
However, after bidding, Leeds found out that David was ‘totally fixated’ on moving to Lille.
Leeds were prepared to break their record fee on David, and submitted a £31.5 million offer to take him from Gent.
However, David simply was not enthused by the chance of moving to Elland Road, and preferred a switch to Lille.
The transfer has now gone through for the 20-year-old forward, who is expected to be a major hit in Ligue 1.

David enjoyed an outstanding season for Gent last term, and is now considered one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
If he had joined Leeds it would have been a real signal of Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.
But Leeds supporters will surely take encouragement from seeing their side offering over £30 million for targets, even if the deal for David didn’t have the conclusion they were hoping for.
