Monaco forward likely to face Tottenham in Champions League clash.

Monaco striker Radamel Falcao is winning the race to be fit for his side’s opening Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, report ESPN.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United loanee is bidding to bounce back from two unsuccessful seasons in the Premier League, on Europe’s big stage.
The match against Spurs takes place at Wembley, and gives Falcao the perfect stage to prove a point, but it will not be easy.
He has mixed experiences of facing Tottenham, and will not have positive memories of when he did so in a United shirt.

In the December 2014 fixture he was trusted to lead the line for the Red Devils, but was continually frustrated by a superb performance from Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal, as the game ended in a draw.
The game could have been a turning point in Falcao’s career at United had he proved the difference maker, but it only served to confirm suspicions he was lacking the ruthless edge he had at Porto and Atletico Madrid.

Lloris though is unlikely to be playing due to injury, and the striker may fancy his chances against Michel Vorm, even though Falcao will not relish going up against Tottenham’s centre-back duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
The last time he face Spurs in a Monaco shirt it was very different. This was back in the pre-season of 2013, when he faced a makeshift defensive duo of Jake Livermore and Ezekiel Fryers.
At the peak of his powers, Falcao ran riot, scoring twice as he inspired a 5-2 win.
It seems a long time ago now, but the Colombian will need to draw upon his form from that occasion if he is to have a chance of making a telling contribution next week – and whether he succeeds or not, he has the stage to prove he can get back to his best.
