How River Plate are considering a deal with Porto that would mean Real Madrid or Spurs would have to pay at least £19.5m for Juan Quintero.

Quintero is currently midway through a temporary spell at the Buenos Aires club that stretches until the end of the year and part of that includes the option to make the move permanent for £2.9m.

If River choose to activate that then no other club can come in for the 25-year-old, who has been impressing at the 2018 World Cup with his performances for Colombia.

These displays in Russia has piqued the interest of both Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentinian side are therefore figuring out a way they can make money from Quintero.

Their plan is to sign the attacking midfielder from Porto and then straight away put a release clause of at least £19.5m into his contract that would see them make an immediate profit of at least £16m – should one of the interested parties pay up, of course.
This is a somewhat risky tactic if Madrid and Spurs decide they no longer want Quintero, so striking the right balance in their valuation could be key for River.
