Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has already confirmed his interest in the free-scoring winger.

Quincy Promes is ready to snub a £30 million move to Southampton, according to the Daily Mirror [29th January, page 46].
It is claimed that Saints were hoping to complete a club-record deal for the Spartak Moscow winger before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The report adds, however, that Promes is not keen on a switch to St Mary’s and ‘could hold out for a bigger Premier League club to come calling’ in the summer.

Southampton currently sit 18th in the standings, a point from safety.
Promes, meanwhile, has scored 10 goals and created another six in 17 Russian Premier League outings this season – although third-placed Spartak are struggling to defend their crown.
And the Dutchman has Europa League football to look forward to in the second half of the campaign.

Southampton have provided a stepping stone for several players in recent years, with Promes’ compatriot Virgil van Dijk the latest to secure Saints a healthy profit.
