QPR are pushing to sign Linfield winger Paul Smyth.
According to Sky Sports, Queens Park Rangers have submitted a second bid to sign Linfield winger Paul Smyth ahead of a clutch of Premier League clubs.
The R’s have been frustrated in attempts to bring in new signings this summer, as manager Ian Holloway has only been able to bring in Alex Baptiste, Josh Scowen and renew the loan deal of winger Kazenga Lua Lua.
However, with less than two weeks of the transfer window to go, QPR are still in the market for new signings, with Holloway potentially looking to Northern Ireland for a new addition.
Sky Sports report that the R’s have made a second bid for Linfield winger Paul Smyth, having already failed with one offer for the youngster, who caught the eye whilst playing in the Champions League qualifiers against Celtic.
Smyth, 20, hit eight goals in just 15 games last season to make a real name for himself in Northern Ireland, and he has become one of the country’s top young talents during his time under David Healy’s tutelage.
Now, QPR are hoping to win the battle for his signature with a second bid, but they will have to hope that they can beat off Premier League interest in the youngster before the transfer deadline.
The Belfast Telegraph recently reported that Everton and Newcastle United are both looking to sign Smyth, presumably with the intention of initially putting him in their development teams, whereas QPR could offer first team football.
Championship clubs Birmingham City, Sheffield united and Sunderland are also believed to be keen, meaning that QPR will be hoping that their second bid is enough to tempt Linfield into a deal ahead of their rivals.
