Smithies has continued to impress since arriving at Queens Park Rangers in 2015.
Queens Park Rangers are expecting Premier League interest in Alex Smithies as the transfer window approaches, reports the Brent & Kilburn Times.
Smithies, who is said to have had several Championship suitors in the summer, has continued to shine for the R’s this season and turned in another impressive display in front of the Sky cameras on Thursday – despite failing to prevent a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Yorkshireman arrived at Loftus Road on a three-year deal from Huddersfield Town in 2015 and, according to the Brent & Kilburn Times, QPR are keen to open talks over an extension as soon as possible.
It is claimed that while Smithies continues to harbour hopes of playing in the Premier League, Rangers are confident of securing the 26-year-old’s long-term future, believing him to be happy and settled in the capital.

However, with Smithies’ understudy Matt Ingram highly rated at QPR, the Hoops would reportedly consider selling the former should a ‘massive’ offer come in.
According to the Brent & Kilburn Times, the club are less confident over an extension for Tjaronn Chery, but remain optimistic they can convince the playmaker to lead next season’s promotion push.
