According to Get West London, Alex Smithies is set to hand Queens Park Rangers a major boost by committing his future to the club in the coming days.
The 26-year-old has been impressive for the Hoops this term, playing every single game for Ian Holloway’s men in the Championship.
And with Get West London reporting that the former Huddersfield man’s current deal has entered its final 18 months, it is hardly a surprise that QPR have looked to act swiftly by getting Smithies to sign an extension, especially with the Mirror reporting that Aston Villa were weighing up making a £4 million bid.
And it seems that Smithies is ready to put any speculation to bed as Get West London reports that confirmation of a new deal is imminent.

Although Rangers have struggled this year, and perhaps Smithies can shoulder a portion of the blame having played every game, his consistency and reliability is arguably the kind of thing that Holloway needs to build upon if he is to turn things around at Loftus Road.
And getting a player of Smithies’ importance to agree a new deal will also send a positive message out to the rest of the squad that even if things are not looking great right now, they are starting to put some of the foundations in place to turn their fortunes around.
