According to Wigan Today, Queens Park Rangers have moved ahead of rivals Cardiff City and Preston North End in the race to sign Kieffer Moore.

The former Barnsley man has been heavily linked with a summer exit.

Wigan Athletic are in financial turmoil right now. Key players could be sold to raise funds, with Moore cited as one of the Latics’ star performers over the past 12 months.

After a 19-goal campaign at Barnsley, Moore has notched nine times for Wigan.

His form has coincided with the Latics’ incredible run from New Years onwards. But the 6ft 5inch striker is more than just goals as he leads the line so well.

Reports from the Daily Mail last week claimed that Preston were looking to sign Moore, who has been a long-term target at Deepdale.

Alex Neil’s side have missed a focal point upfront following Jordan Hugill’s exit in 2018. Preston’s lack of a top striker has cost them a playoff spot this season.

But the latest reports from Wigan Today claim QPR are now frontrunners to sign him.

The Hoops have reportedly seen an offer in the region of £2.5 million accepted, six months after Cardiff failed with their own bid in the region of £2 million.

QPR will see loan star Hugill return to parent club West Ham United this summer. Moore appears to be a like-for-like replacement for Mark Warburton’s side.

If Cardiff still hold an interest in the player, now would be the time to strike.

The Bluebirds, however, may be holding off on their summer transfer plans as Neil Harris’s side gear up for the playoffs and a potential spot in the Premier League.
