Wheeler joined League Two outfit Exeter City in 2013 from Staines Town, and has been a key player for them ever since.
Last season was his best, as he bagged 20 goals in all competitions, and further laying off six for others.
QPR have made a decent start to their 2017/18 EFL campaign, having won two of their opening four games, and drawing one.
