According to the reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Queens Park Rangers are looking to sign the Italian defender, Salvatore Monaco, in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old defender plays for Serie B club Perugia. He narrowly missed out on a promotion to the Serie A last season, and is looking to progress his career in England.

Monaco’s contract with Perugia is set to expire this summer, which means QPR can sign him for free. However, Perugia have an option of keeping him at the club for an extra two years.

Monaco made 33 appearances for Perugia between Serie B and the Coppa Italia, and would be a fine addition to Ian Holloway’s squad.

The defender has previously played for clubs including Casale, Arzanese, Grosseto, and Arezzo, before joining Perugia last year.

Defence is one area QPR are looking to bolster this summer. They have been reportedly linked with a move for the Watford defender Tommie Hoban, who spent last season at the relegated side Blackburn Rovers, making 16 appearances for the Lancashire side.
