Queens Park Rangers have joined Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers in the race for Motherwell striker Louis Moult.

Louis Moult of Motherwell celebrates the end after the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from MailSport, Queens Park Rangers have joined Rangers in the race to sign Motherwell forward Louis Moult.

Moult has been brilliant for Well this season, scoring 11 goals in all competitions. And with MailSport reporting that he is in the final year of his contract and will be available on a free transfer next summer, it is no surprise that he is attracting plenty of admirers.

Rangers Keeper Jak Alnwick makes a fine save from Louis Moult of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

MailSport reports that Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers have previously been linked with the 25-year-old, but they will now have to see off competition from QPR if they hope to bag his signature.

MailSport suggests that the Championship side have been scouting Moult for a while, and had representatives in attendance for the Scottish League Cup semi-final with the Gers – which saw Moult bag a brace, including a stunning second goal, to send Motherwell into the final – and are now considering making a move for the forward in January.

Though most of Moult’s career in England before his move to Fir Park was spent in the lower leagues, his form coupled with his contract situation surely makes a deal seem like a smart move for QPR.

Ian Holloway’s men should not have to spend an incredible amount to bring him to Loftus Road – if he ultimately decides that is where he wants to play – and if he can replicate the form he has shown over the last 18 months or so, he could prove to be a brilliant addition.
