Queens Park Rangers have joined Celtic among other clubs in the race for Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Celtic have had a bid of £5 million for the former Newcastle United striker turned down by Peterborough United.

The Glasgow giants are still interested in securing the services of Toney, and so are Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion, according to the report.

The report has added that Mark Warburton’s QPR have joined the race for the 24-year-old striker.

Stats

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Toney scored 24 goals in League One in 2019-20 and found the net 16 times in the league in 2018-19.

Good signing for QPR?

Toney is one of the best strikers in the lower leagues in England, and he would be a very good signing for QPR in the summer transfer window.

The former Newcastle man is a proven goalscorer, and he is ready to take the next step in his career and move to a club in the Championship.

QPR are an established club in the Championship, and a goalscorer like Toney would enhance their chances of finishing in the playoffs.
