Could Redondo be heading to the Championship with Queens Park Rangers or Birmingham after being released by La Liga outfit Getafe?
Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City are both interested in signing free agent defender Alberto Redondo, according to Foot Mercato.
The transfer window might have slammed shut for Championship clubs almost two weeks ago but, given that Redondo is still unattached, he is free to move anytime he wants.
The 22-year-old left-back was released by Getafe in the summer after making just one first-team appearance for the La Liga outfit, who stunned Spanish football by qualifying for the Europa League with a squad chock-full of veterans and under-appreciated late-bloomers.
And reports in France claim that Redondo could now be on his way to England with QPR and Birmingham interested, alongside Ligue 1 duo Nimes and Brest.
QPR signed Lee Wallace from Rangers this summer after releasing Jake Bidwell but the veteran Scot is yet to make his debut for the Loftus Road outfit due to injury. Ryan Manning, a central midfielder by trade, has impressed at left-back in the first few games of the new season but Redondo would at least offer a more natural option.
Birmingham meanwhile have the impressive Kristian Pedersen, he of the 20-yard header against Brentford, in their ranks. Redondo would probably be a back-up at best but The Blues need all the depth they can get ahead of a gruelling 46-game season.
