According to Tuttomercatoweb, Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Mauricio Pochettino as they think about a future without Thomas Tuchel.

It’s claimed that Tuchel didn’t want to sign striker Mauro Icardi permanently from Inter Milan. He has been on loan at PSG this season, and his move became full-time just days ago.

Sporting director Leonardo pushed ahead with a €58million (£51.5million) deal, showing the disconnect between Tuchel and the Brazilian.

The report notes that Tuchel’s future depends on the Champions League, but Leonardo wants to discuss the managerial position with owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the coming weeks.

Leonardo has two ideas; the first is to go for ex-AC Milan and Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri. The second is to bring Pochettino back to the club.

The Argentinian made 95 appearances for PSG in his playing days, and given that he is out of work having left Tottenham Hotspur in November, a return does make some sense.

Newcastle fans may be praying this doesn’t materialise any time soon. Sky Sports recently noted that Pochettino is the top choice to become Newcastle manager this summer if the club’s long-awaited takeover goes through.

That deal has been dragging on and on for weeks now, and whilst Pochettino may be wanted at St James’ Park, there is now a chance for PSG to swoop in and take him; possibly drawing on his emotional connection to the club.
