Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye may be staying after all.
Everton fans and staff will have been sick of the rumours about Idrissa Gueye’s future. Fortunately, they may be about to end, for this window at least.
The Toffees midfielder, 29, has impressed since a 2016 move from Aston Villa, and his performances have seemingly attracted major interest.
Paris Saint-Germain have been keen to sign Gueye, potentially offering him a return to France, having starred with Lille before his 2015 move to Villa.
The Mirror reported earlier this week that PSG have offered £25million for Gueye, but Everton rejected the move and were considering complaining about illegal approaches for the Senegal international.
In that report, it’s stated that Gueye wants to leave Everton for PSG, but his wishes may be coming to an end with the French champions set to sign another midfielder.
The Telegraph report that PSG are set to sign Zenit St Petersburg ace Leandro Paredes in a £35million deal, strengthening their central midfield options in the process.
The Argentinian had been linked with Chelsea, but now looks set to move on to the French capital instead, whilst surely ending PSG’s interest in Gueye.
That’s a relief in one sense for Everton, but they will hope that Gueye isn’t too unhappy about a potential move to France being ruled out this month.
