According to reports from Foot Mercato, PSG are currently in negotiations over the prospective signing of Sunderland youngster Joel Asoro.

While Sunderland’s current injury crisis may have hastened Joel Asoro’s introduction into the first team, there is no doubting the fact that the 17-year-old is one of the most talented young players in the ranks at the Stadium of Light.

Asoro signed for Sunderland back in 2015 after his exploits for the Sweden Under-17 national team and the attacker has been touted for a big future in the game by many associated with the Black Cats.

New Sunderland boss David Moyes has revealed that he has been left very impressed by Asoro and the Scotsman even compared the teenage sensation to Jermain Defoe recently.

Moyes had told the Sunderland Echo, “He has done well I have been impressed with his link-up play and strength. He is like a young Jermain Defoe but he needs to learn to score like Jermain Defoe does.

“I have been impressed with his training and he is a strong little boy with his wiry shape. I will say to Jermain he needs to tell him how he scores, only strikers can tell when they shoot through people’s legs, when they shoot, when they take it on.”

Sunderland are not the only side that rates Asoro very highly though and according to reports from Foot Mercato, the likes of PSG, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have all been impressed by the young striker.

The report adds that PSG have already made their moves in an attempt to sign Asoro after club chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi met up with the striker’s agent recently.

Sunderland would most certainly not want to lose their prized asset anytime soon but it has been claimed that an offer of around £10-£13.5 million could tempt the Premier League side to part with the attacker.
