According to The Sun, Everton have turned down an offer of £25 million from Paris Saint-Germain for Idrissa Gueye.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that PSG made the bid over the weekend, but the Toffees have turned it down.

The report has also claimed that the French giants will now consider increasing their bid for the 29-year-old defensive midfielder this week.

According to The Sun, Everton manager Marco Silva does not want to sell the Senegal international in the January transfer window.

Tempting for Everton?

Gueye is one of the best players in the current Everton squad, and it does make sense for manager Silva to retain the defensive midfielder’s services, especially as it is probably too late to find a suitable replacement in the January transfer window.

An offer of £25m even for a 29-year-old is really not that high, but perhaps if PSG increase their bid to around £40m, then it could be very tempting for the Toffees to cash in on a player they signed from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £7.1m.
