Tottenham Hotspur recently managed to tie down Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen to a new contract with the club. The long-term deal has been sought for some time by the Tottenham board and coaching staff, with the Dane being linked with moves to some big teams in the meanwhile.

Now it is being reported that Paris Saint-Germain made moves to try and sign the player this summer.

Foot-Sur7 is reporting that PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi was hopeful of bringing Eriksen to the French capital this summer – with Unai Emery said to be a fan of the player.

However, despite contact between the two clubs, no deal was ever reached.

Eriksen is a popular player at Tottenham Hotspur and the fans at White Hart Lane would have been extremely upset if they had sold him to the Ligue 1 power club.

As it happens no such deal occurred and Spurs fans will no doubt be resting easier on the topic after he committed his future to the club this week.

Eriksen has struggled for form at the start of the season but looked back to his best in the 4-0 win over Stoke City yesterday.
