Report provides update on Sheffield Wednesday’s Steve Bruce interest

Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly made Steve Bruce their top target should they part company with Jos Luhukay.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (16/12; page 59), Sheffield Wednesday will not get an answer from Steve Bruce regarding his future until the new year.

The Owls have won once since beating Bristol City in early October. They actually took the lead away to Swansea on Saturday, but conceded twice to leave themselves 18th in the Championship, five points above the bottom three.

The Sun on Sunday (16/12; page 59) reports that Wednesday have made Bruce their top target should they decide to part company with Jos Luhukay. But they will have to bide their time if they want to make an appointment.

The Sun suggests that Bruce has told pals that he is not ready to get back into management just yet, and thus, the Owls will have to wait until 2019 before they can convince the former Aston Villa boss to come to Hillsborough.

Although Bruce is apparently not planning to get back into the dug-out immediately, you would imagine that his stance could potentially change if Wednesday decide to act and sack Luhukay.

There is no reason to believe that their mind is made up on the Dutchman. But should they decide to let him go, Bruce should not want to let the chance pass him by as Wednesday could be a fantastic club to join given their stature and potential.
