According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur forward Marcus Edwards’ loan deal to Excelsior does not feature a permanent clause.

Tottenham turned down the advances of a host of Championship clubs to move Edwards out to Holland in search of first-team football.

Spurs moved Edwards on a temporary spell at Norwich City last season, but he did not play once, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side did not want a repeat scenario.

Tottenham always intended on Edwards’ move out to the Eredivisie only being a temporary one, though.

Spurs want to take another look at the youngster after he has a season of regular football under his belt.

The 19-year-old has made eight appearances for Excelsior so far, but he is yet to score his first senior goal.

Edwards was once regarded as Tottenham’s best up-and-coming talent, but his career has stalled in recent times, and it is no longer clear where his future lies beyond this season.
