According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United’s initial inquiries to Bournemouth about Callum Wilson have been well received.
Newcastle are interested in signing the Bournemouth forward in January, as they feel that he could enhance their attacking threat.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe is understood to want to keep hold of Wilson, but Bournemouth are believed to be prepared to listen to offers for the rapid front man.
Newcastle have funds to invest when the transfer window reopens, and Rafael Benitez is believed to want to add a new striker to his squad.
Wilson has played in all but one of Bournemouth’s Premier League matches to date, and he has scored five goals.
Newcastle did business with Bournemouth last summer, when they signed Matt Ritchie – who has gone on to make a positive impact at St. James’ Park.
If Wilson was brought to Newcastle, he would be in competition with Dwight Gayle for a first-team place.
